January 2022
Happy New Year Everyone!
In Language Arts in December and January we completed our full unit on Personal Narrative in Writer's Workshop. We will begin our unit on Informational Writing this month. We also continued with our Word Work work and our Daily Oral Language work daily. Grammar has also been a focus as we have used "Flocabulary" to practice important lessons in grammar work such as Commas, Quotation Marks, Periods, Capital Letters and Exclamation Marks.
In Math this month, we have continued with our calendar work. We continued practicing counting by 2's, 5's and 10's as well as understanding the concept of Base 10 blocks and their value in numbers. Our focus in December and January has been learning the basic strategies for solving addition and subtraction problems with regrouping. We also have been focusing on word problems with more than one step.
During the past two months, we have continued to focus on Social-Emotional lessons and Classroom Meetings to understand that we can experience many feelings at one time. These meetings also help us understand how to deal with all of these feelings that we have.
In Social Studies and Science in December and January, we continued to focus on the Properties Of Matter as well as the topic of Landforms. We also have been using SeeSaw to practice our skills. Mystery Science has also been a wonderful hands-on program to enhance our Science and Social Studies skills.
